PCORI Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER) Project:

The center has received funding from PCORI to build a patient-centered CER program for the center. Initial activities have included convening the stakeholders including patients, families and caretakers, drafting governing documents, and hosting a retreat to begin to identify research questions that matter to the patients and their families.

Focus Groups 2017-2018:

We ran a series of focus groups at Children's Hospital Oakland and Support for Families with patients, parents and caregivers. Our goal was to determine the most important areas for research according to people living with a chronic illness. We discussed their concerns regarding the future health and care of people with a chronic illness. This helped us identify important themes and questions that we can study in future projects. This process will ensure that future research generates answers to the questions that matter most to our patients.
